Geoprocessing tool reference

This section includes the complete reference documentation for the geoprocessing tools available to developers. Use the links below to go quickly to a specific set of tools or use the Table of Contents navigation at left:

3D Analyst toolbox—The 3D Analyst toolsets let you convert TINs to features and rasters; create 3D features from functional surfaces by extracting height information; interpolate information from rasters; mathematically manipulate rasters; reclassify rasters; and derive height, slope, aspect, and volumetric information from TINs and rasters.

Analysis toolbox—The Analysis toolbox provides a powerful set of tools to perform various geoprocessing operations of all types of vector data. With the tools in this toolbox, you can perform overlays, create buffers, calculate statistics, perform proximity analysis, and much more.

Cartography toolbox—Cartography geoprocessing tools have a different purpose than most other ArcGIS geoprocessing tools. The tools in the Cartography toolbox are designed to produce data and support map production for specific maps in a way that meets a specific cartographic standard.

Conversion toolbox—The Conversion toolbox contains tools that convert data between various formats.

Coverage toolbox—The Coverage toolbox provides a powerful set of tools to perform various geoprocessing operations that only use coverages as input and will only output data as a coverage.

Data Management toolbox—The Data Management toolbox provides a rich and varied collection of tools that are used to develop, manage, and maintain feature classes, datasets, layers, and raster data structures.

Geocoding toolbox—Many common tasks are related to the geocoding process, such as the creation, maintenance, and deletion of address locators, as well as the actual geocoding of addresses. The Geocoding toolbox contains tools to assist in accomplishing these tasks.

Geostatistical Analyst toolbox—Tools for working with Geostatistical layers.

Linear Referencing toolbox—The Linear Referencing toolbox contains a series of tools for creating, calibrating, and displaying the data used for linear referencing.

Multidimension toolbox—The Multidimension Tools toolbox contains tools to make a netCDF raster layer, feature layer, or table view; to convert to netCDF from a raster, feature, or table; and to select a dimension of a netCDF layer or table.

Network Analyst toolbox—The Network Analyst toolbox contains tools for network analysis, building networks, and creating and editing turns.

Spatial Analyst toolbox—ArcGIS Spatial Analyst provides a rich set of tools to perform cell-based (raster) analysis.

Spatial Statistics toolbox—The Spatial Statistics toolbox contains statistical tools for analyzing the distribution of geographic features: finding the geographic center, identifying statistically significant spatial clusters (hot spots) or outliers, assessing overall patterns of clustering or dispersion, and so on.

Samples toolbox—The Samples toolbox contains custom model and script tools that allow you to perform common conversion and data management work flows. A few of the operations you can perform in the Samples toolbox include raster and CAD conversion tools, and batch coordinate system defining.
