The Microsoft PowerPoint file (MapCtrlPowerPoint.ppt) has an embedded MapControl on a PowerPoint slide.
Use the MapControl 'Layers' Property Page to load some sample data into the MapControl. Sample data can be
found in the following location of your ArcGIS installation: \\ArcObjects Developer Kit\Samples\Data\
VBA code was added in the MapControl's OnMouseDown event to enable user panning and
zooming, and to a CommandButton's OnClick event to 'zoom to the full extent' of the data.

Start PowerPoint and load MapCtrlPowerPoint.ppt.
Display the MapControl property pages by right clicking on the MapControl
and selecting 'Properties'. In the properties dialog box double click on the 'Custom' property.

Layers' button to add sample data to the MapControl and press OK.
