The FixRegistry utility (FixRegistry.exe) fixes corruption of the Component Categories section of the registry.
When you run the ESRI Component Category Manager utility (Categories.exe), you may occassionally notice that some of the component categories are missing. The install program for Adobe Acrobat Reader installs a few corrupt component category keys into the registry. The Component Category Manager encounters these corrupt registry keys when it's populating its list of component categories and fails to add all of the categories to the list.
The FixRegistry executable will analyze your registry for corrupt component category keys and reports the errors that it finds. If it finds any errors, you can then remove these corrupt entries.
To use this utility, run FixRegistry.exe, which can be found in the "\ArcObjects Developer Kit\Utilities" folder in the location where you have the ArcGIS software installed. If you do not have the "\ArcObjects Developer Kit\Utilities" folder on your computer, refer to the ArcObjects Developer Kit topic for information on how to install the ArcObjects Developer Kit.
If no errors are found in the component categories section of the registry:
The following dialog will be displayed.

If the utility finds errors in the component categories section of the registry:
The following dialog is displayed. This dialog lists the corrupt component category keys and gives you the option to remove these keys or not.
